May 2025 News Briefs

August 26, 2024

BE SURE TO CHECK KNITTERS NEWS FOR ADDITIONAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

April presentation – Last month, Kim McBrien Evans delivered an insightful presentation on Size Inclusivity and The Maker, filled with meaningful information and valuable perspectives. As promised, Kim has generously shared her slide deck for your reference. Click on Size Inclusivity and the Maker to continue learning and reflecting on the topics she explored. Additionally, here’s an online article outlining her basic approach to alterations.

Guild members participate in nationwide Knit-a-thon – Tania Marshall reports that she and other knitters attended an amazing gathering at Peggy Reddler’s home on April 5, 2025 to support the 5th annual Knit for Food Knit-a-thon. This 12-hour event raises funds and awareness for food insecurity. The four-person Carlsbad team, led by Sue Kristiansen, raised more than $4,400 contributing to the nationwide total of $530,000!

Doing business at Guild meetings – Please plan to do all your business (Membership, Programs, Philanthropy, etc.) before or after the formal Guild meeting, which starts at 12:30 p.m. and ends when Show and Share is complete. All stations will be closed during the meeting itself, both in deference to our speakers and to allow Guild volunteers to enjoy the program. Volunteers will have saved seats in the audience. We hope you understand and respect this policy.

Membership – Please check here for the latest Membership news. If you have not paid for your 2025 membership, the quickest and easiest way to do so is online. If you wish to renew in person, please print and complete a Membership Form and bring it with you to the May 6 meeting.

Show and Share – Find the April Show and Share here. In-person Show and Share continues at the May 2025 meeting (save time by completing your form in advance). You can also submit photos of your projects for our Virtual Show and Share gallery. Instructions for submitting are at the bottom of all Show and Share pages. Links to older galleries going back three+ years can be found here.
