In Case You Missed It — APRIL 1, 2025 KIM MCBRIEN EVANS VISITED THE GUILD

The April 2025 Guild speaker was Canadian Kim McBrien Evans of Indigo Dragonfly yarns. Kim is known for her love of color and texture. In addition, she has spearheaded the practice of making patterns in a wide range of sizes (inclusivity).

The topic of size inclusivity brought many members to the general meeting. There literally was not an empty seat in the room.

Her presentation gave a history of standard sizing and how the definition of sizes has changed over the years. For example, a Misses size 8 in 1958 is now labelled a size 0!

With an array of many body measurements, Kim emphasized the need for prep work to select and adjust patterns to complement each individual’s body type.

Kim’s five workshops provided in-depth instructions on how to achieve a stylish, great fit on any body. She brought a variety of her knitted designs for members to fondle and try on.

Her husband, Ron, organized a delightful and tempting trunk show (where 10 skeins somehow jumped into my bag).
