You Won’t Want to Miss the “SDNCKG Has Talent” Cast-On Party!
Mark your calendars for January 7, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. at the ECC.
January is “Selfish Knitting” month. Our Holiday knitting is over for gift giving and we can now cast on a project for our own enjoyment.
Our January 7, 2025 Cast-on Party will celebrate our amazing members and local resources. It will feature:
- SDNCKG Designers
- SDNCKG Members Teaching Members
- SDNCKG Knit Joji Locatelli Garments
- LYS Pop-Ups
- Helper Stations
What you can expect:
Tables will be set up around the perimeter of the room featuring our SDNCKG designers and teachers, Joji Locatelli garments, and local yarn shops (LYS).
At the designer tables, you will meet several of our SDNCKG designers and learn about their patterns and garments. At the Members Teaching Members table, you will learn what classes are being offered by SDNCKG members and how you can sign up to attend.
Do you want to learn more about the designs and workshops being offered by our February speaker Joji Locatelli? If so, you will want to check out the table showcasing Joji Locatelli’s garments (knit by SDNCKG members) so you can determine what you may want to cast-on first.
Do you need yarn to cast-on? Have no fear, our local yarn shops will be joining us with pop-up shops to assist!
In addition, in the center of the room, you will find tables with snacks where you can sit down with fellow knitters, share ideas, and make new friends!
Here too you will have access to seven “Helper Stations” each staffed with experts to assist you on the following topics:
- Measurement (no judgement) Station
- Pattern Selection & Ravelry Station *
- SDNCKG Library Resources for Cast On-Ideas **
- Instruction Translation — How to Read a Pattern Station
- Gauge & Blocking Station
- Fixing Mistakes Station
- Winding Station

* The Encinitas Community Center has free Wi-fi, so bring your tablets and laptops to find patterns online.
** In advance, be sure to check out our Extensive Guild Library and request a book or three you would like to look through for ideas. Our Librarian will bring them to the meeting.
