Reminder – the Guild has a Ravelry SDNCKG group page where you can find special announcements not available on the Guild website, and a link to the Guild’s library on Ravelry. Members can post questions to Co-Presidents Tania and Renate, or post anything else for that matter.
The Guild is on Instagram. The Guild has a social media account on Instagram. Expect to find announcements, reminders, workshop news, and more. If you have an Instagram account just scan the QR code to the right and click the follow button, or search for SanDiegoKnitters while in Instagram.

Guild Library – The Guild has an extensive library full of knitting and crochet pattern books and related resources. It’s easy to check out books and pick them up (and later return them) at in-person Guild meetings. Details here.

Guild Retreats. Read the August retreat report. Registration for our January 20-23, 2025 Winter retreat in Temecula will begin October 1st. Retreat details can be found here.
Members Teaching Members. In the Guild’s efforts to revive this previously popular activity, the MTM page (found under the Calendar Tab – or by clicking here) was updated with a proposed list of classes and activities based on your input. All we need now are instructors and students! We need a volunteer to head up this effort for next year. Contact Tania Marshall for details.
Philanthropy News – You can bring your latest donations to the next in-person meeting, or contact Colleen Lukoff to arrange a pick up or drop-off. Read a wrap-up of 2023 donations in April’s Philanthropy News. Check the Philanthropy page for Colleen Luckoff’s plans for donations.
Did you know? We have a number of talented Guild members who are published designers, starting with Co-President Renate Kamm (Ravelry ID oberpfalzerin). Others include Irina Anikeeva (hibis411), Mary Martin (MaryWMartin), Cally Monster (Monster Knits), Wendy Gaal (Knitters Brewing Company, Ravelry ID socalknitgirl), and Claudia Carlson (FibertoFabric and inventor of the Needle Keeper) to name a few. You can see their designs and patterns on Ravelry. Check your Guild Directory for their Ravelry IDs.
Membership and Directory News – Renew for 2024 or join online with a credit or debit card! The online payment link can be found on the Membership Renewal Page. Renewing by mail is not recommended due to issues with the postal service. Watch for updates regarding 2025 membership renewal.
2024 Guild Directories – were mailed to your home. Corrections to your entry should be sent to the Membership email address Membership AT SanDiegoKnitters DOT com.
August’s Show and Share can be found here. September’s Show and Share will be in person, so bring in your items to share and be sure to download and complete a Show and Share form here so you can turn it in as you enter the meeting room. Don’t have a printer? Pick up a form at the Guild meeting. If you can’t attend the meeting, you can still submit photos of your projects. Instructions for submitting can always be found at the bottom of Show and Share pages. Links to older galleries going back three+ years can be found here.

The SoCal Fiber Fair is returning for a second year on November 23-24 at the LA County Fairgrounds in Pomona. Tickets will go on sale August 1st. Watch for details on Facebook or on the Fair’s website here.

Quilter Activities. For knitters who quilt – you can find news about local quilting events on the Guild’s Ravelry SDNCKG group page in the discussion topic “Quilt Notices”. Check our Ravelry Group page for any update.
Mingei International Museum is open, and has a new cafe! The Mingei is a wonderful museum of arts and crafts, located in Balboa Park. Check it out at Mingei.org/whats-on.
Visions Museum of Textile Art. Visions is a great textile museum in Liberty Station. While its focus in the past has been largely on art quilts, the museum has expanded its “vision” to include all fiber arts. In recognition of its expanded scope, Visions renamed itself Visions Museum of Textile Art and has a new website VMOTA.org Check it out!
