In Case You Missed It — Cecelia Campochiaro Visited the Guild October 29
We were delighted to have Cecelia Campochiaro return to the Guild in person for our November meeting, held October 29. Her presentation, “From Sequence Knitting to General Reversibility,” was full of exciting ideas.
Cecelia described how she started with one-row patterns in her book Sequence Knitting and began to explore larger patterns that are reversible. She considers a pattern reversible if the same pattern can be seen on both sides, even if they’re not identical.
She showed us many beautiful examples of reversible patterns, including lace patterns, cables and mock cables, and layers of ribbing she calls damask patterns. We saw some of the beautiful effects that can be created by adding fine stripes to reversible stitch patterns. For sweater knitters who feel they don’t need reversible stitch patterns, Cecelia mentioned that these patterns make very good edgings.
Although we had hoped to see her latest book, Cecelia said it won’t be ready until the beginning of next year. It’s “a pure stitch dictionary,” she said. From what we saw of the wide variety of reversible patterns she is including, it should provide lots of inspiration!
