In Case You Missed It — Molly Conroy-Ungerecht Visited the Guild August 6

Molly Conroy

Molly Conroy-Ungerecht presented “An Overview of Cocoknits” at the Guild meeting August 6. Molly is a designer, teacher, and partner in the Hands On Knitting Center, a local yarn store in Redlands.

In the first part of the program Molly spoke about the secrets of the Cocoknits method and why it is worth the effort. The Cocoknits method was developed by Julie Weisenberger; Molly has been a fan ever since she discovered how well sweaters fit when knit using Julie’s techniques. Molly stressed the importance of fit and how to think about what works for us, not what’s the trend.

In the second part of the program, Molly discussed plant-based fibers. She had been told that cotton yarn was awful for knitting. But since she regularly wore machine-knit sweaters made of cotton, she wondered whether that was really true. She began a journey to understand plant-based fibers and how to knit with them successfully, particularly when substituting them for wool.

August Trunk Show

Molly brought many samples of beautiful Cocoknits sweaters for us to see as well as lots of beautiful yarns for us to buy.
