In Case You Missed It – Edie Eckman Presented to the Guild via Zoom.
Author, designer and teacher Edie Eckman presented “Crochet for Knitters” via Zoom at the July 9 Guild meeting. She considers herself a diplomat, bridging the gap that can exist between knitting and crochet.
Edie stressed that knitting and crochet are closely related. In both we use yarn to create a fabric while controlling the shape at the same time. Both can be worked in rows or rounds and be flat or three-dimensional.
She worked to dispel some myths about crochet and gave us her opinion about the strengths of crochet versus knitting. She stressed that you don’t have to take sides between knitting and crochet. Crochet is something knitters should consider having in their toolbox.
Edie’s diplomacy appears to have been a success with our group. Polls taken during her presentation suggested that nearly all members were at least intrigued about crochet. Many are eager to learn more.
