Minutes of the General Meeting

At 12:00 PM Co-President Renate Kamm called the meeting to order. She made the following announcements:
- The Stash Sale on June 6 will be from 11AM to 1 PM.
- Members are invited to share photos of their latest knitting projects for our website. Be sure to include pertinent information (yarn, name of pattern, etc.) and submit it to our Webmaster Kerry Nare (check guild directory for her contact information).
- Check SD North Coast Knitters Ravelry group for discounted tickets for upcoming Quilting shows in May.
- SDNCKG members will be womaning a booth this Saturday at the Oceanside Pier.
Theresa Kotanchek introduced our guest speaker Assia Brill. Assia invented the Distitch several years ago, published a book of patterns and techniques in distitch knitting, and made a convincing argument for the distitch’s superiority in many knitted and crocheted projects.
After the program, Willa Cather described three of Assia’s upcoming workshops in the distitch technique.
Renate announced that the Guild will be participating in the Del Mar County Fair. We will be presenting two $50 awards to adults (one for design, the other for workmanship) and one $50 award to a youth who demonstrated outstanding effort. The adult winners will also receive a complementary membership to the Guild. We will have a table set up for a knitting demonstration at the Fair on a date yet to be determined.
Carol Myers invited all to consider volunteering for Guild committees. Those who expressed a willingness to do so on their membership forms will be contacted personally by board members.
Renate Kamm adjourned the meeting at 1:19 PM.
