San Diego North Coast Knitters Guild
Minutes of the General Meeting
Tuesday, April 4, 2023
Encinitas Community Center, 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive, Encinitas, CA
Attendance: 86
Co-President Renate Kamm called the meeting to order at 12:30. She announced that our Guild membership has climbed to at least 214 members! She urged all to visit the tables in the back of the room: Philanthropy, Show and Share, Class Sign-ups, Membership and Stash Sale. Since our next meeting will be on Zoom, members should contact Jeanie Milliken directly about dropping off donations.
Program Co-Chairperson Willa Cather introduced our speaker Lesley Anne Robinson of Knitting Graffiti. Lesley Anne gave an entertaining and informative description of her love affair with Brioche, accompanied by her inspiring finished knitted projects. She took time to answer many questions about the intricacies and rewards of Brioche knitting.
After Lesley Anne’s program, Co-President Renate Kamm urged a member to volunteer to be the Del Mar Fair Co-Ordinator. This is an important job as our relationship to the fair is long-standing and an excellent way to advertise our guild to interested local knitters.
Deborah Cravets, Retreat Co-Ordinator, announced our next retreat will be August 14-17 in Temecula. Registration will begin online June 1 and as a convenience, members may pay at the Stash Sale.
Donna Mulcahey, Librarian, urged members to check the Guild website on Ravelry. We have over 500 books available to borrow.
Nancy Nevin, Membership Chair, announced we now have 220 members. To save mailing costs members are urged to stop at the Membership table after the meeting and pick up name badges and directories. The remaining badges and directories will be mailed directly to each member.
Colleen Lukoff, Philanthropy Chair, showed some knitted gifts members had made. She has already sent several philanthropy items to the VA.
After Show and Share the meeting was adjourned by Renate Kamm at 1:42 PM
