PHOTO GALLERY FROM the March GUILD MEETING
Mary Barranger modeled her Zig Zag cardigan, from a Kaffe Fassett pattern. Mary used assorted worsted weight wool yarn. ‘I made this back in the 80’s. In the past month I’ve worn it a lot because it has been so COLD.’

Willa Cather shared her ‘Camp Along’ square she knit in Margaret Holzman’s ‘Camp Along’ blanket class at the Guild. Willa used Knit Picks Brava yarn, 100% acrylic. She’ll make this into a lumbar pillow for her knitting spot on the couch.
Willa Cather modeled her ‘Skipping on Cloud 9’ mobius cowl, designed by Suzanne Neilson. Willa used Zen Garden Serenity Silk, a merino/cashmere/silk yarn in the ‘In the Groove’ colorway. Willa said ‘This is a perfect project for Zoom calls, carwash, etc. If you can count 1-8… repeat.’
Renate Kamm modeled her ‘Gneiss’ sweater, designed by Fiona Alice. The purple yarn, Cotton/Linen from La Droguerie, was purchased while on vacation with former Guild president Liz Knapp. The multi-green yarn is a merino from Malabrigo.

Karen Bochinski shared her temperature snake, the ‘Slithery Snakes’ pattern designed by Zoe Mellor, from Knitted Toys: 25 Fresh and Fabulous Designs. Karen used Ewe Ewe Wooly Worsted yarn in various colors to match the temperature each day.
Theresa Kotanchek modeled her ‘Playful Participation’ cardigan, pattern designed by Karen Damskey of L’Atelier using L’Atelier Dk Classic Cashmere yarn. The pattern was L’Atelier’s December 2020 Sweater of the Month. Theresa finally completed seaming her cardigan in February 2023.

Martin and knit using Urth Uneek fingering and Shibui Knits Birch merino wool yarns. ‘This is an example of Mary’s Fusion Knitting technique. The design elements are identical on each side, but on one side it’s a solid purple color and the other side it’s in the Uneek ‘Gusty’ gradient color.’

VIRTUAL SHOW AND SHARE PHOTOS SUBMITTED IN March
Colleen Davis Striped Cardigan – ‘I combined bits and pieces of different yarns with my stash to knit a striped cardigan of many colors. I started with square checkerboard modules continuing up with a chevron pattern. I added checkerboard lapels.’
Tania has been busy working to improve her colorwork and cable techniques with the help of Nancy Bates’ book, Knitting the National Parks. The book contains 63 charted hat patterns. For yarn, she has been doing some deep diving into her stash. Although the patterns are written for worsted weight yarns, she mostly used two strands of fingering weight yarn which also allowed her to marl the colors. To get the dawn sky in the Saguaro beanie, she used 4 strands of lace weight yarn held together.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR PHOTOS For VIRTUAL SHOW AND SHARE:

Photos can be submitted either via text message or email to Kerry Nare. (Kerry’s phone number and direct email address can be found in the Guild Directory.)  Image file sizes should be as large as possible for clarity (ideally greater than 500 kb please). Keep in mind when you take your photos, that projects show up best against solid backgrounds. Include a description of your project, pattern and designer name, yarn used, how you came to knit your project, and any other information you wish viewers to know, and when texting be sure to include your name!

* Did you know? Smart phones have much better cameras than iPads or tablets, so if you have a choice, take your photos with your phone. You can text photos directly from your phone, no need to download first.

While there is no set deadline for submissions, please submit your projects by the 4th Monday of the month to ensure it is posted before the next News Blast goes out. Photos are posted according to the month they are received.
