September 6, 2022 General Meeting Minutes

August 23, 2022

San Diego North Coast Knitters Guild
Minutes of the General Meeting
Tuesday, September 6, 2022
Encinitas Community Center

Vice President Sydnie Wauson called the meeting to order at 12:28 PM. She introduced Nancy Lerer, Program Co-Chair.

Nancy Lerer introduced our guest speaker Stacy Mann. Stacy needed no introduction to many of the members as she is a past president of the Guild. Stacy described herself as “a maker” at heart. Her program was on spinning: tools, materials, uses, and politics and culture.

After Stacy’s program the meeting continued.

Sydnie Wauson urged members to strongly consider serving on the board or becoming a committee chair. We rely on volunteers to keep our guild strong.

Program Co-Chair Nancy Lerer announced that Stacy’s workshop on September 7 is almost full. Sign up for workshops with Norah Gaughan in November. There is no guild meeting in October.

Sydnie Wauson announced that members can now register for the Holiday Luncheon in December. Tables of 10 are available for groups with a single table captain. If a table comes up short of 10 people, single members can be invited through the Guild’s Ravelry page.

Our next Guild Retreat will be in Temecula from January 9 – 12, 2023. Sign ups will start at the November 1st meeting.

Donna Mulcahy, Librarian urged members to check our Ravelry page for the 400 titles in our library available for loan. Contact Donna to arrange to pick up books at the next meeting, or to arrange another pick up time and place. Members are welcome to donate knitting books that have ISBN numbers. We are not accepting magazines.

Several members presented their finished knitted objects in our first in-person Show and Share since last December.

Sydnie Wauson adjourned the meeting at 1:50 PM.
