August Virtual Show and Share

August 23, 2022

August ACTIVITIES – WHAT’S ON YOUR NEEDLES?

Show and Share is in transition! Over the past two years, Show and Share has been a virtual activity. In September, we will meet in person – bring your Show and Share items to the September 6th meeting and show them in person! Download a Show and Share form here.

If you can’t make the meeting, we will continue to welcome photos submitted by Guild members via email or text. Going forward, Show and Share on the website will include both photos of projects shared in meetings, and digital photos submitted via email or text.

Below are photos received in August. To participate virtually, send your photos and descriptions to Kerry Nare. Details on how to submit can be found at the bottom of this page.

Click on any photo in the Gallery to enlarge or start a slide show, then scroll down to read details regarding the photos. For convenience, new photos will be added at the beginning of the gallery as they arrive, so check back periodically.

A complete list and links to all Guild Photo Galleries can be found on the drop-down menu under the Guild Info tab.

Details regarding projects

Photo (1): Deb Cravets – Aliso Creek Top
Aliso Creek Top by Irina Anikeeva, knit in Scheepjes Stone Washed yarn, New Jade colorway.

Photos (2): Deb Cravets –  Provence Top
The pattern is Provence Top by Ekaterina Vorobeva. The yarn Deb used is Alpamayo by Jody Long in color 02. “If I make this pattern again, I would pick up more stitches around the neck for the ribbing; neck is pretty tight going over my head.’

Photos (3) – Colleen Davis – Vest and Sweater
#1 vest: “I mixed turquoise and orange colors using mitered (rounded) squares and 3 interesting cables for this vest.”
#2: “Using hot pink, rose and magenta I knit this asymmetrical design with black outlines. The back has different mitering.”

Photos (2) Mary Lovett – Shawl and Beanie
Shawl: Bennet Sister Shawl by Lindsey Fowler, knit with Lang Lace yarn and Less Traveled Concord Singles yarn.
Hat: Pattern is the Yosemite Beanie by Nancy Bates, knit in worsted weight yarn from a kit.

How to submit your photos

Photos can be submitted either via text message or email to Kerry Nare. (Kerry’s phone number and direct email address can be found in the Guild Directory.)  Image file sizes should be as large as possible for clarity (ideally greater than 500 kb please). Keep in mind when you take your photos, that projects show up best against solid backgrounds. Include a description of your project, pattern and designer name, yarn used, how you came to knit your project, and any other information you wish viewers to know, and when texting be sure to include your name!

* Did you know? Smart phones have much better cameras than iPads or tablets, so if you have a choice, take your photos with your phone. You can text photos directly from your phone, no need to download first.

While there is no set deadline for submissions, please submit your projects by the 4th Monday of the month to ensure it is posted before the next News Blast goes out. Photos are posted according to the month they are received.
