Details regarding project photos
Photo (1): Mindy Aisen – sweater, modeled by Paul Aisen
Project was made from the Maja Cardigan pattern, designed by Hélène Magnússon, modified and made as a pullover. Yarns used were merino, cashmere for most of the colorwork, but a silk/mohair/wool blend for the body (to make it cooler and lighter for our climate).
Photo (1): Mary Barranger – striped sweater
“This is Andrea Mowry’s Stria. It employs the half fisherman’s rib stitch in fingering weight. It was a challenge to figure out how to ladder down to fix mistakes. But eventually I got it – with rows of close to 300 stitches it was an essential time (and sanity) saver.” Mary knit her sweater using Malabrigo Mechita and Kelbourne Woolens Camper.
Photos (2): Nancy Lerer – Nightshift shawl
“The pattern is the Nightshift shawl by Andrea Mowry, modeled by my ever agreeable husband. I used Laneras yarn (our March program presenters): 8 colors of their DK weight (Felicidad). I picked the 6 main colors with Jay’s help at Stitches West 2020, and I knitted this (and added a couple more colors) during the early months of the pandemic. It was absolute fun to see how the color combinations emerged!”
Photos (2): Carol Myers – pillow
“Colour Block Cushion” pattern from Rowan Book #19 Seasonal Palette. Knit in Rowan Felted Tweed. Started months ago in a pillow class taught by Linda Berger, Carol says she finally got around to adding the buttons!
Photos (2): Carol Myers – stranded hat
The pattern is “Da Crofters Kep 2021 Shetland Wool Week”, designed by Wilma Malcolmson. Knit with Jameson Smith 2ply wool yarn, the pattern called for six skeins in various colors specified in the pattern, including multiple shades of blue. Carol was uncertain of the colors since they were so similar, but the resulting hat is beautiful!
Photos (2): Alice Chary – pullover
The pattern is “Forever Sweater”, designed by Lisa Richardson. Alice used the crew neck option. Knit in Rowan Felted Tweed. Rowan calls this colorway “French Mustard” but it looks green to Alice.
Photos (1): Ginny Newton – shawl
The pattern is “Tree Shawl”, designed by Leila Raven, from the book Swoon Maine. Knit in Quince & Co.’s Chickadee, an organic heather sport weight, colorway “Larimar”
Photos (1): Deborah Cravets – pullover
The pattern is “Spector”, designed by Joji Locatelli, knit in Manos del Uruguay Fino with four different colors. The pattern called for size 3.25mm needles but Deb used size 3.5mm to get gauge.
Photos (2): Colleen Davis – Freeform Vest and Royal Stripes shrug
“Garment 1: Freeform vest playing with miters using pink, salmon, olive, orange and gold.
Garment 2: Stephen West’s ‘Royal Stripes’ pattern, using the yarn I won at the December 2121 luncheon (red, black, gray and white). It took a lot of yarn and I thought I would never finish. Garter stitch, short rows and I-cord bind-offs are West’s specialty.”
How to submit your photos
Photos can be submitted either via text message (preferred) or email to Kerry Nare. (Kerry’s phone number and direct email address can be found in the Guild Directory.) Image file sizes should be as large as possible for clarity (ideally greater than 500 kb please). Keep in mind that projects show up best against solid backgrounds. Include a description of your project, pattern and designer name, yarn used, how you came to knit your project, and any other information you wish viewers to know, and when texting be sure to include your name!
* Did you know? Smart phones have much better cameras than iPads or tablets, so if you have a choice, take your photos with your phone. You can text photos directly from your phone, no need to download first.
While there is no set deadline for submissions, please submit your projects by the 4th Monday of the month to ensure it is posted before the next News Blast goes out.
