Meetings for 2022 will continue to be virtual using Zoom until further notice. Tips for Zoom can be found here. 

Holiday Luncheon December 6th –  was a huge success! Read about the Luncheon here, and view the photo galleries from the Fashion Show and the Opportunity Drawing!

Retreat News – Watch for an update on the January Retreat, coming in February!

December’s Virtual Show and Share is the Holiday Fashion Show! You can find links to the Holiday Luncheon photo galleries here. The regular monthly virtual Show and Share will return in February, but we need your photos! For best viewing by the Guild, get your photos in by Tuesday before the next News Blast goes out. The News Blast goes out on the Thursday before the monthly Guild meeting. Instructions for submitting can always be found on the most recent Virtual Show and Share page. Links to older galleries going back three+ years can be found in a drop-down under the Guild Info tab below the banner at the top of the page on the Guild Photo Galleries page. Or, just click here. 

Membership News –  click here to read the latest note from Nancy regarding Membership Renewal. Please note: members who have not renewed by the March deadline will be removed from the News Blast email list and will no longer receive the monthly News Blast beginning in April.

Knit@Nite News – meetings are held via Zoom on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. Contact Tania Marshall directly for specific dates and to receive the Zoom link. As of October, Knit@Nite photos are now included in the monthly Virtual Show and Share.

New Subgroup! We are please to announce the La Costa Knitters group is now an official subgroup of the Guild.  La Costa Knitters meet via Zoom on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month, from 2 PM to 3:30 PM. Details about the group can contact information can be found on the Sub-Group Meeting page here.

Podcast News:  Fruity Knitters is back with new videos! Be sure to check them out at Fruity Knitters. Other podcasts of note: Interweave’s Fiber Nation and Benjamin Levisay of Knitting Universe/Stitches fame –  Fiber Holigan. If you have a favorite knitting podcast you’d like to see added to this list, please submit it the webmaster.

Quilt Show Events:
Member Diana Rathbun received flyers from our sister guild, the Southern California Association of Quilt Guilds. The two events the flyers announce are:
1. Road2CA Quilt Show Jan 19-22, 2022 Ontario Convention Center, Ontario, California – more information can be found at www.ROAD2CA.com
2. International Sewing Arts Festival January 13-15, 2022 Ontario Convention Center, Ontario, California – a new event! Detail can be found at www.sewingfestival.com

And the South Bay Quilters Guild is proud to announce it’s 2022 Quilt Show, “By the Sea” to be held on Saturday and Sunday, February 12-13, 2022, from 10 – 4 each day, at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center, 3330 Civic Center Drive (corner of Madrona and Torrance Blvd.), Torrance. “Our show will include the following: Opportunity quilt ‘Sea Breeze’ drawing Feb 13th at 4pm. Live quilt auction on Sunday at 1-3 pm. Quilt Exhibits – Featured quilter Alex Tsubota and our talented members. Quilts for sale in our consignment booth and vendor mall.” Details can be found the guild’s website SouthBayQuiltersGuild.org under Quilt Show 2022.

Mingei International Museum is open, and has a new cafe! The Mingei is a wonderful museum of arts and crafts, located in Balboa Park. Check it out Mingei.org/whats-on.

Visions Art Museum – Visions is a great quilt and textile museum in Liberty Station. While its focus is largely on art quilts, there have been other fiber art exhibits, including lace, knitting, and crochet. Find them on the web at VisionsArtMuseum.org.

The San Diego Museum of Art – Check the San Diego Museum of Art’s website for information and events.

County Art Museums – Most of our county arts museums and other museums have re-opened – here’s a link to a listing of all museums in San Diego County. Check individual websites for details.
