November 2021 Brief Announcements and Events

April 5, 2020

Be sure to check Knitters News for all announcements.
This page contains brief items too short for Knitters News, plus highlights of a few Knitters News items of interest. It does not replace Knitters News. But be sure to scroll down this page for all items of interests since not everything appears in Knitters News!

Meetings for 2021 are currently using Zoom which will continue for November,  and for at least January 2022. Tips for Zoom can be found here.

Holiday Luncheon December 6th –  We still need people to sign up for the Fashion Show or there won’t be one! Read about the 2021 Luncheon here. The Covid-19 Protocol requirements are still in force – details are here. Thanks to many members, we have all the volunteers we need for the 2021 Holiday Luncheon.

Retreat News – Registration information for the 2022 Winter Retreat can be found here. Check out photos from the August retreat here.

Philanthropy – Read Debbie Vacek’s latest philanthropy project news here. Drop-offs are by appointment only for November.

Stash Sale – Urgent! We need volunteers for the 2022 Stash Sale! Details can be found here.

October’s Virtual Show and Share – We need your photos! It’s never too late to contribute! Check the latest Virtual Show and Share page for details. Links to older galleries going back three+ years can now be found in a new drop-down under the Guild Info tab below the banner at the top of the page in the new Guild Photo Galleries page. Or, just click here. For best viewing by the Guild, get your photos in by Tuesday before the next News Blast goes out. The News Blast goes out on the Thursday, the week before the monthly Guild meeting. Instructions for submitting can always be found on the Virtual Show and Share page.

Make note of membership additions not appearing in your new directory here.

Knit@Nite News – meetings are held via Zoom on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. Contact Tania Marshall directly for specific dates and to receive the Zoom link. As of October, Knit@Nite photos are now included in the monthly Virtual Show and Share.

Podcast News from Nancy Nevin – click here to read about a new (to us!) podcast, and update on an old friend. Note – Fruity Knitters is back with new videos! Be sure to check them out at Fruity Knitters.

Local Yarn Shops – the Guild maintains a list of Local Yarn Shops in San Diego County which can be found under the Knitter’s Resources tab, or just click here.

Other Items of Interest:

Mingei International Museum has reopened! The Mingei is a wonderful museum of arts and crafts, located in Balboa Park. Check it out Mingei.org/whats-on.

Visions Art Museum – Visions is a great quilt and textile museum in Liberty Station. While its focus is largely on art quilts, there have been other fiber art exhibits, including lace, knitting, and crochet. Find them on the web at VisionsArtMuseum.org.

The San Diego Museum of Art – Check the San Diego Museum of Art’s website for information and events.

County Art Museums – Most of our county arts museums and other museums have re-opened – here’s a link to a listing of all museums in San Diego County. Check individual websites for details.

Have information about events around the county which may be of interest to Guild members? Contact the Webmaster@SanDiegoKnitters.com.
