January 2020 Brief Announcements and Events

May 22, 2019

Workshop Signup Sheets – There will be Workshop Sign Ups available at the January meeting!  There will be two workshops with Kyle Kunnecke on Wednesday, February 5th, and two workshops with our Guild Member Irina Anikeeva on Wednesday, March 4th. Visit the Programs table at the meeting to find out more about the workshops and sign up for one that catches your fancy. Each workshop is only $30.00.

A new Members Teaching Members class is available in February – check here and sign up at the January meeting, or contact Karen Buchinski directly.

Volunteers are still needed! The Guild Librarians and Stash Sale Book Coordinator positions are still open. Also, the Guild is looking for a new News Coordinator/Editor – please contact Kerry Nare at Webmaster@SanDiegoKnitters.com for details. Assistance is also needed throughout the year for various events and activities, some as simple as handling the signup sheets at the back of the room. The San Diego North Coast Knitters Guild runs on volunteers – without membership participation our wonderful Guild cannot survive.

Membership Renewal for 2020 – check here for the latest. A revised form is available – please use the new year form. The 2020 renewal form has a new check box asking members to indicate their willingness to volunteer their time. Reminder – Guild By-Laws allow visitors to Guild meetings, however, “Prospective members may attend two monthly meetings or two sub group meetings as a guest before being required to pay dues.”

New feature! Ravelry Tip of the Month – have a question about using Ravelry? Check here.

Additions to the Guild not appearing in the 2019 Directory – check here for updates. New directories for 2020 will be distributed to registered members in a future meeting. Renew on time to make sure you are included.

The Guild is looking for a new News Coordinator – please contact Kerry Nare at Webmaster@SanDiegoKnitters.com for details.

Other Events and Items of Interest:

Quilting Enthusiasts – Frequently we receive invites or tickets to quilting events throughout the SoCal region. That is because our Guild is a member of the Southern California Council of Quilt Guilds through which our insurance is obtained. To learn about these quilting events, visit our Ravelry group and check out the thread called “Quilting Enthusiasts”.

February 2020 Guild Meeting – Collections for the 2020 Stash Sale begins! The Guild does not have a place to store your donations over the summer and holidays, so please keep them at home until the February meeting.

The San Diego County Fair will be open June 5 through July 5 (closed on Mondays). Information is now available on the fair’s website.

Have information about events around the county which may be of interest to Guild members? Contact the Webmaster@SanDiegoKnitters.com.
