2025 Holiday Luncheon Recap

November 23, 2024

2025 HOLIDAY LUNCHEON — A HUGE SUCCESS

This year’s Holiday Luncheon on Monday, December 1, 2025 at La Valle Coastal Club was a huge success. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped: Molly Allison, Mary Barranger, Jennie Chen, Wendy Gaal, Debbie Galasso, Kathy Glendinning, Linda Hart, Jane Hatkow, Sharon Hunt, Renate Kamm, Elizabeth Kemper, Donna Liu, Tania Marshall, Kim McIntyre, Carol Myers, Dianna Rathbun, Louise Shappee, Stephanie Souviney, Amy Stevens, Raenell Transue, Mary Woo, Barbara Wright, and Sue Zois.

Several things changed this year: We had tables of 12 to allow more room for the Fashion Show. There was a pre-sale of Opportunity Drawing tickets at the November meeting. The Fashion Show was limited to 20 participants. And, we asked participants to add their names on the back of the tickets.  All this contributed to a shorter luncheon that all the members appreciated and enjoyed.

This year’s centerpieces

This event is made possible by donations from knitting-related businesses, volunteer efforts, and contributions of gifts from members. We thank them all! Please be sure to support our vendor sponsors and let them know you appreciate their generous donations to the San Diego North Coast Knitters Guild. Additional recognition goes to:

  • Sara Stolz Prize: This special prize, from an anonymous donor, was given in memory of Sara Stolz. Sara was an active and supportive member of the Guild. She taught member-to-member classes, made beaded necklaces, served as Membership Chair for years, and participated in numerous retreats. Sara was artistic, creative, and fun!
  • Bea Davis Tribute: Linda Hart’s tribute to her mother allowed some attendees (who had not previously won anything) to enjoy a gift certificate from Apricot Yarn & Supply.
  • Door Prizes: Expression Fiber Arts again donated yarn for every attendee. AdoreKnit and Friends of the Guild provided additional gifts.
  • Centerpieces: Patti Fedler (project bags), Stephanie Souviney, Wendy Gaal/Knitters Brewing Co., and Friends of the Guild put together this year’s collection for each table.
  • Friends of the Guild: Many Opportunity Drawing and other items came from Laura Brubacker, Michelle Bolden, Patti Fedler, Dana Fehrenbach, Linda Hart, Renate Kamm, Nancy Lerer, Stephanie Souviney, Cary Sullivan, Carol Myers, Monday Nomads, Knitting Sisters, LaCosta Knitters, and additional anonymous donors.
  • Outstanding Donations: The Guild is most grateful to Dana Fehrenbach and Pam Owen for their generous gifts of exquisite yarn being used in the Opportunity Drawing (and for 2026 Stash Sale).

Tania Marshall did a fabulous job taking pictures of all the winners (Opportunity Drawing as well as tribute, centerpiece, and door prize winners) and Fashion Show models. Each of the linked photo galleries has captioned photos; some of the information (especially Fashion Show details) may be easier to read in the event program.

Sandy Levin hard at work behind the scenes to make the 2025 luncheon successful

I enjoyed being the Chair of the Holiday Luncheon but, due to health and family issues, I must step down from this position. I hope several new members are willing to step up and continue to make the Holiday Luncheon one of the highlights of the Guild’s social year (and an important fundraising event). I will be available to help others take over this responsibility. If you are interested, please contact Mary Barranger.

Sincerely,

Sandy Levin and the 2025 Holiday Luncheon Team
