Moko-Moko Cowl
Ginga Cowl

This class is part demonstration with an audio-visual presentation and a short lecture about 3D knitwear in hand knitting and the inspiration process. It will be part swatch-fest and all inspiration.

Level of Experience: Beginner. Student should have basic knitting skills, including knit, purl, cast on, bind off.

Skills Learned: Introductory lecture on several basic principles of dimensional texture used in knitwear, learn varieties of cast ons and bind offs for stretchy edging and its purpose for dimensional knitwear, learn to work partial knitting and short rows, and their differences; make either a Moko-Moko Cowl or a Ginga Cowl.

Homework: None.

Materials and Supplies to Bring to Class:

Moko-Moko Cowl Detail

For Moko-Moko Cowl – 340 yds of any worsted weight wool, waste yarn in smooth texture and similar weight, US 7 (4.5mm) needle and a spare needle, crochet hook F (3.75 mm). Bring either a printed copy of pattern to class (preferred for taking notes), or, a previously downloaded digital copy on an electronic devise (wifi may not be available in class room.) *Purchase pattern prior to class.*

Ginga Cowl detail

For Ginga Cowl – 270 yds of smooth texture of worsted weight in light or bright color in MC, 270 yds of smooth texture of worsted weight in light or bright color in CC, US 7 (4.5 mm) circular, 24” long; crochet hook H or larger, stitch marker, tapestry needle, scrap yarn. Bring either a printed copy of pattern to class (preferred for taking notes), or, a previously downloaded digital copy on an electronic devise (wifi may not be available in class room.) *Purchase pattern prior to class.*

Materials fee: * None, but must have purchased either the Moko-Moko Cowl pattern or Ginka Cowl pattern prior to class, see Note above for links to patterns on Ravelry.

Cost:  $30 for members ($55 for non-members which includes Guild membership through 2020)

How to Register:  Sign up at the beginning of the February Guild meeting or send an email to Programs@SanDiegoKnitters.com.  Be sure to include your name, the name of the workshop, your email address and a telephone number. Payment is requested at time of registration. Your registration is guaranteed upon confirmation of receipt of your payment.

*Location: La Colonia Park community center, 715 Valley Avenue, Solana Beach (link to map below.)  Directions: From I-5, take the Via de la Valle exit and head west. Turn right on Valley Avenue at the first stop light. Keep right on Valley Avenue at the fork in the road (Stevens Avenue will branch off to the left.) Continue on Valley Avenue to La Colonia Park. The park and parking lot will be on the left. The community center building is white with a red tile roof. Enter the building through the door nearest the parking lot
