Knitting with Beads, Every Which Way But Loose

Bead knitting and beaded knitting; what’s the difference? Find out along with learning how to add beads to your knitting using different pre-strung bead techniques to bling up your knitting and make jewelry too. We’ll start by learning how to add beads to yarn from pre-strung beads and how to string for multi-color patterns and then move on to the logic of knitting with beads. These skills start with the easiest methods and build up to more intricate patterning, circular and lace knitting. We’ll work on a sampler so you can experiment with the various methods in class and you’ll leave with complete directions and a pattern for knitting a scarf with beads.

Level of Experience:  Basic knitting skills.

Homework:  None

Materials:
Two needle stoppers
100 yards or more of light fingering or sock weight yarn in any fiber

Materials fee:  Pay $8 fee at workshop; cash or check only. This fee includes two sizes of beads, a bead threader, a crochet hook, and two US size 1 double-pointed needles.  (You must bring the needle stoppers and yarn listed in Materials section.)

Cost:  $30 for members ($65 for non-members which includes Guild membership through 2018)
